Circumstances

Steven O’Brien was last seen on March 20, 1993. He was a first-year student at Holland College’s Culinary Institute in Charlottetown when he went missing after a night out with friends. Steven was last seen walking south on Queen Street in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, around 1:30 am.

heir son, Steven, then just a few weeks away from his 19th birthday, disappeared without a trace.

Steven, a student at Holland College who was studying to be a chef at the Culinary Institute, had been out for the evening with his friends and was expected to be home at the end of the night.

But that was not the case. And the family still has many questions as to what happened to Steven and the circumstances of the evening after he was last seen on Queen Street in Charlottetown.

National Missing Children’s Day has been commemorated on May 25 of each year since 1983, when it was first proclaimed by then U.S. President, Ronald Reagan and later declared in Canada in 1986 by then Solicitor-General Perrin Beatty.

Today, on P.E.I., the day brings pause to reflect on the still unsolved case of Steven, which remains open with the hopes someone will come forward to provide any information about his fate.
