Circumstances

Marilyn Bergeron left her family home in Quebec City, Quebec, for a walk on February 17, 2008. They did not see her again.

A security camera capture Bergeron’s image at an ATM in Loretteville, and later leaving a coffee shop in Saint-Romuald.

Quebec police believe Bergeron committed suicide, but her family believes she met with foul play.

Bergeron had recently moved back into her family home from Montreal. She told her parents that she no longer felt safe living alone, and that something bad had happened to her there.

Bergeron’s friend stated that she had become afraid and would rarely leave her home when she lived in Montreal. He eventually asked her if she had been sexually assaulted or witnessed a crime, to which Bergeron answered that what happened to her was “far worse.”
