Circumstances
On May 25, 2015, Jessica Heppner arrived at St. John’s International Airport and checked in at the Sheraton Hotel were she had reserved a room for one night. Heppner was known to be a frequent traveller both domestically and internationally.
The Sheraton Hotel employees reported that Heppner had extended her stay by one night, but never returned on May 26, 2015, after getting into a taxi to go meet a friend in Paradise. The taxi driver recalled taking her to Topsail Road to meet a man,
Her suitcases and all her belongings were left behind in the hotel.
Two months after Heppner’s disappearance, one of the two prepaid credit cards she had purchased was used in Germany. One of two prepaid cellphones Heppner bought was also used a week after her reported disappearance in Ontario.
Heppner had outstanding warrants in two other provinces, and there is speculation that she was involved in the sex trade.
A Polish man named Norbert Kasza was the one who reported Heppner missing. He has been described as her “travel companion.” In an effort to contact Kassza, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary spoke to his former room-mate in Surrey, Ontario. The room-mate told police Kasza denied every knowing Heppner.
