CIRCUMSTANCES
Over two years have passed since Rock Creek resident, Colleen Smith was reported missing to Midway RCMP. Police are renewing their plea for new tips, information or leads that would help locate Colleen.
Colleen was reported missing in early February 2016 when she failed to show up for work. Her last contact with family and friends was February 9, 2016 and she was last seen that day at 9:30 am.
Smith was scheduled to work at the Petro-Canada Station on the Crowsnest Highway in Rock Creek on Feb. 11, 2016. But she never showed up. Something that was completely out of character for her.
On May 3, 2016, Colleen’s blue 2005 four-door Chevrolet Cobalt was found abandoned in a Walmart parking lot in Kelowna 135 kilometres away. It appeared to have been parked for an extended period of time, as corroborated by video surveillance from the business. At the time it was found, the vehicle was locked and in good condition. Investigators were unable to determine any evidence of Colleen’s whereabouts after examining the vehicle.
Smith had several pets she loved and took good care of at the time of her disappearance. Friends and family do not think she would have abandoned them. She also had her own photography and seamstress businesses and was fitting a wedding dress when she disappeared.
