CIRCUMSTANCES
On October 16, 1986, Kerrie Ann Brown, 15, disappeared from a house party on Trout Ave. in Thompson, MB. She had gone to the party with her best friend, Nicole Zahorodny, but wanted to leave when her ex-boyfriend showed up with another girl. Brown had planned to stay the night at Zahorodny’s house.
The two girls left the residence, but returned when Zahorodny realized she left her purse inside. Zahorodny then got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, and by the time she was ready to leave, Brown had disappeared. When Zahorodny left the house, she saw Brown’s footprints in the snow ending at tire tracks indicating she had gotten into a vehicle.
Kerrie was reported missing by her family on October 17, 1986.
On October 18, 1986, two horseback riders found Brown’s body past a graveyard on the outskirts of town. She was found wearing a pink and black leopard-print outfit and white socks, lying on a jacket with one hand up and the other down.
Brown had been sexually assaulted and beaten to death with branches.
