Circumstances
Cheyenne’s stepfather, Glenn Bauman, is charged with her 1st-degree murder and that of her mother, Linda. He is also charged with two counts of indignity to a body. Police believe Bauman dismembered the girl and her mother’s bodies and burned them after he killed them in July 2011.
Thirteen-year-old Cheyenne was a student at Linwood Public School. The Waterloo Region District School Board said someone told them Cheyenne would not be returning to school in September, 2011, because her family was moving out of Ontario.
The Daniel’s family and friends had not seen them since July, 2011, and reported them as missing in 2015. The following year, police began investigations and in Sept. 2017, they found the remains of Linda and Cheyenne both inside and outside the home they had shared with Bauman in 2011.
Friends and family are still wondering how it could take four and a half years for police to launch an investigation.
Bauman was arrested in Valleyview, Alberta and entered a plea of not-guilty to the 1st-degree murder charges in a Kitchener courthouse on April 9, 2019.
